What is Tritan BPA-Free Plastic?
Tritan plastic is a virtually unbreakable polyester polymer plastic made by Eastman, specifically designed to be a bpa-free alternative to polycarbonate plastic. Triton is used in BPA-free infant products, water bottles and even in medical devices. Tritan bpa-free plastic is FDA-approved for repeated food use.
General Use:
Tritan plastic glasses and dishes are virtually unbreakable under impact.
Dishwasher use:
Tritan plastic glasses and dishes are commercial dishwasher-safe, recommended for water temperatures up to 150-degrees F.
A note for residential users...
EnergyStar-rated residential dishwashers can far exceed commercial temperatures and may damage plastics. Please consult your dishwasher user's guide for a lower heat cycle to prevent damage to any type of plasticware.
Microwave use:
Tritan plastic drinking glasses, dishes and tableware is microwave reheat-safe -- up to 2 minutes recommended.
Scratching and Wear: Tritan plastic plates and drinkware is not scratch-proof. Tritan plastic dishes are not recommended for heavy use with knives. Melamine Plastic Dishes are ideal for heavy use with knives - see our Plastic Tableware section for several durable Melamine styles.
